rhythmic gymnastics

at Topaz Dancentre

Rhythmic gymnastics is a graceful and fun activity which shares many elements with ballet and pilates, without involving any acrobatic skills. It is a great way to improve your strength, flexibility and balance. In class, you'll also get to work with small apparatus such as the ball, hoop, ribbon and rope. These are perfect for building coordination and adding a playful touch to your movements.

Beginning with a gentle warm-up, each session includes stretching and strengthening exercises before moving onto simple skills such as balances, jumps and pirouettes. The final part of the class explores creative ways to use the apparatus, learning how to move them smoothly around the body, and performing short, choreographed routines to music.

We are pleased to welcome Giulia Pedrazzi to the Topaz family. In a first for Topaz, Giulia will be bringing the art of Rhythmic Gymnastics to our studios!

Aimed at older teens (16+) and adults, this class will be a great way to engage with exercise and moving the body in a meaningful and enjoyable way. As a standalone class, you will increase your flexibility and strength, keeping the body supple and more equipped to cope with the stresses and strains of life. If you already study dance, styles such as (but not exclusively) Ballet, Acro, Contemporary and Lyrical, you may find that the skills developed through Rhythmic Gymnastics transfer across and enhance your wider dance skills.
